Preparing to conceive - Infertility
If there are no medical reasons for being unable to conceive, then psychological factors could very well play a part. Certainly, stress, anxiety and depression are all linked to infertility and it's well established that prolonged stress can cause hormonal imbalances. The Hypothalamus is a part of the brain that regulates the stress response as well as sex hormones and this regulation can become disturbed by continued exposure to stress which could lead to infertility.
How can hypnotherapy help?
Hypnosis can help significantly lower your stress levels, reduce any anxiety and bring your body back into a state of balance. It can also prepare you emotionally for conception and work through any conscious or unconscious mental blocks, preparing your body to accept conception. Hypnosis works on your unconscious to find that part preventing conception and by reducing any anxiety surrounding the next attempt to conceive. The mind and body are intrinsically linked and hypnosis can help you to create more positive thought patterns surrounding your preparation to conceive.
It can also be used as a successful tool alongside IVF treatment. A recent clinical study* reported that the use of hypnosis during embryo transfer doubled the IVF/ET cycle outcome in terms of increased implantation and clinical pregnancy rates.
